Abstract

The disease burden manifests as morbidity, mortality, and serious complications following illnesses, including lifelong physical disabilities. Many diseases indirectly increase the disease burden by debilitating children, leading to poor general health status and growth. The health problems facing a large country such as India are essentially linked to poverty and overpopulation, which in turn lead to less satisfactory health facilities, poor sanitary and environmental conditions, and poor nutrition. The women and children are more vulnerable to all these factors.
