Abstract

In this chapter we shall discuss some coherent optical processors for electrooptical array antennas which have different practical capabilities:
  1. 1.

    A coherent optical processor which forms the radiation pattern of a planar array antenna and which stores time data at the processor output for subsequent processing by traditional (including coherent-optical) methods (see Section 9.1 [93, 94, 124]);

     
  2. 2.

    A coherent optical processor which carries out the space—time processing of the linear array antenna signals, so that at the processor output a one-dimensional angular (only one angular coordinate) and frequency (magnitude) spectra (with the potential for correlation processing; (see 9.2.1 [128, 130]) are simultaneously reproduced;

     
  3. 3.

    A coherent optical processor for a planar array antenna with space—time signal processing, so that data on two angular coordinates and the frequency spectrum of the signal are present at the output (see 9.2.2 [13]);

     
  4. 4.

    A coherent optical processor for an interference suppression linear electrooptical array antenna which forms a radiation pattern with controlled nulls directed at the interfering signals [166, 167, 38]; and

     
  5. 5.

    Coherent optical processors which carry out the space—time processing of signals from circular array antennas so that at the processor output a frequency-angular spectrum (one coordinate) and a frequency spectra from all targets in the azimuth sector 360° are simultaneously formed [80, 82].
