Abstract
Your plane lands after a long flight. You rush to the car-rental counter, grab the keys, and jump into the car for the drive into town. Then you discover that this car has the brake pedal to the right of the accelerator instead of to the left. When you turn the steering wheel to the right, the car goes left. And there is no turn signal at all.
This and the following article originally appeared in the Autumn 1988 issue of Sun Technology. We’ve attempted to make them more contemporary, but the visual interface is still an evolving phenomenon. —Editors
