Abstract
It is remarkable how many important legal issues involve a comparison of two proportions. To make the discussion specific, consider the example of a test taken by men and women on which men are observed to have a higher pass rate. Here are three candidates (there are more to come) to describe the disparity in pass (or fail) rates:
