Motor Systems — Lower Motor Neurons and Pyramidal System
Central nervous system system influence is exerted on muscles in the body by the activity of motor neurons located within the C.N.S., the axons of which form the motor fibers of peripheral nerves. Action potentials over those motor axons result in release of neurotransmitter substance at the motor end plate and hence muscle contraction.
