Abstract
There are fundamental differences between juvenile laws before and after World War II. Under the old law, a juvenile was a person under 18 years of age, while the current law stipulates that a juvenile is a person under 20 years of age. This section will regard those under 20 years of age as juveniles and examine the trends of juvenile delinquency in the Showa era by relying on available statistics based on the number of juvenile offenders cleared by the police.
