Abstract
The Showa period, which started in 1926, ended on January 7, 1989, ushering in the era of Heisei. Reflection and analysis of the Showa era have started in various sectors in terms of political, social, economic and cultural aspects. The Showa period lasted for more than 60 years, during which time Japan experienced unprecedented changes. The duration of the reign must be interesting in itself. In addition, an analysis of the background behind the turbulent years may provide valuable data for compilation of future policies. These may be motivations behind the reflection and analysis of the Showa era.
