Abstract
The surface waters of Loch Yale Watershed (LVWS) integrate the effects of the upstream processes discussed in previous chapters. Surface waters include lakes, streams, ponds, and temporary melt pools, although we have studied only lakes and streams. Physical factors that govern the surface water system include the annual cycle of accumulation and melting of the mountain snowpack, the steep topographic gradient, the size and aspect of each drainage subcatchment, and the presence of glaciers and icefields in the upper cirques.
