Abstract
Linear and quadratic limb darkening coefficients have been calculated by means of a least squares fitting for a large sample of stellar model atmospheres. A range in temperatures from 4000 to 50000 K has been covered from the zero-age main sequence up to the giant phases. A new law for the limb-darkening of hot stars, based on a square-root term, is also included. The validity of the different approximations for the analysis of light curves of eclipsing binaries is discussed.
