Abstract
In the general framework of quasilinear systems or equations, we could only define in Chapter II the lifespan of a solution. For semilinear systems or equations, it is possible to go further and define a maximal domain of existence of a given solution. The essential questions are then about the shape of this domain and the behavior of the solution near its boundary.
