Abstract

It was the experience of plastic surgeons that if a “doughnut” excision was performed on the breast, it often developed a secondary deformity consisting of the extreme enlargement of the areola, sometimes to the size of the original doughnut outer border and often associated with scar widening, making the result even more unsightly.
