Hubble’s Next Decade

  • Chapter
Hubble

Abstract

Hubble’s design lifetime was defined as fifteen years. A third of that time span had been reached by 1995. During the remaining years, at least three more servicing missions are planned. Aside from routine replacements of degraded or failed components, as was also done during the 1993 mission, emphasis will be put on the replacement of scientific instruments for newer, more modern developments, and on raising Hubble’s orbit when necessary.
