Abstract

This chapter focuses on tests about population variances. Two major tests are discussed, those concerning one population, and those involving two independent populations. SPSS does not have a procedure for the one-sample case. It does provide a test for the two sample case, but this test is different than the one discussed in the textbook. Therefore, for both cases, we will use SPSS to determine the sample variances, and then calculate the test statistics by hand.
