Afterword : 3001

  • Peter D. Ward

Time is now short for me. That seems like a contradiction, for with my time machine I should have all the time in the world, and all of the many past worlds’ time as well. But even the imaginary time traveler has constraints of life, and work, and love. There is now only one more trip to take. Like the hero of H. G. Wells’s tale, or better yet like Charles Dickens’s time traveler, I need to move forward in time, to see the Ghost of a far future Christmas. For my last trip I need to see the future: our future, and that of the elephants.
