Tissue Combustion Smoke/Plume Absorption via the Peritoneum at Laparoscopy

  • D. E. Ott

Abstract

Laparoscopic procedures that generate smoke confine this toxic aerosol material to the intraabdominal cavity. Absorption of portions of this material occur via peritoneal absorption. To evaluate whether smoke generated by this process is absorbed, a study of changes in blood concentration of methemoglobin was designed.
