Bowel Obstruction Related to Prior Gynecologic Surgery

Abstract

Intestinal obstruction exits when there is interference with the normal progression of intestinal contents. Mechanical obstruction is the term used when there is actually a physical barrier that blocks the intestinal lumen. Ileus, which is a synonym for intestinal obstruction, is now commonly used to describe disorders of propulsive motility of the bowel.1
