Abstract

This paper introduces a method for predicting lifetime of industrial pipe systems. Creep and fatigue effects of material are considered and a method of simulating reliability is developed. The estimated lifetime as well as remaining time to failure, expressed in operating hours or in number of loading cycles, are functions of several main parameters such as: creep strains, strength resource, internal damage state, material properties (hardness, ultimate strength, flow limit, density). For a system of high temperature working pipes, an algorithm of computing lifetime and reliability is applied.
