Abstract

The goals of preoperative templating for total hip replacement are to provide: (1) an estimate of the size of the femoral and acetabular components needed at surgery; (2) the appropriate level of femoral osteotomy; (3) the assurance that the medial offset of the femoral head can be reproduced without excessive lengthening of the extremity; and (4) the assurance that a corresponding modular neck is available to achieve this goal.
