Abstract

In this final chapter we discuss the application of graph theory in civil engineering. We begin with a very brief description of a problem concerning the construction of earthwork projects. We then go on to the major application of this chapter, which involves the design of urban traffic networks. It represents a major application of digraphs and networks. Further applications of graph theory in civil engineering, involving highway route and pier construction planning, are outlined by Chachra et al. (1979).
