Integral Equations With Separable Kernels

  • Ram P. Kanwal

In Chapter 1, we have defined a degenerate or a separable kernel K(s, t) as
$$K\left( {s,t} \right) = \sum\limits_{i = 1}^n {a_i (s)} b_i (t),$$
where the functions a 1(s),..., a n (s) and the functions b 1(t),..., b n (t) are linearly independent.
