Abstract
We describe two Maple implementations of an LU-factorization method for the solution of column diagonally dominant banded matrices. We compare the efficiency of these programs with Maple’ s built-in routine linsolve. We also give an example of the new indexing functions for Maple V Release 3. The code described in this paper is available by anonymous ftp to pineapple.apmaths.uwo.ca (129.100.23.160) in the directory pub/maple/band.
