Abstract

The lack of a father is devastating. The child feels abandoned, guilty, and ashamed of the stunted family. Angry, the boy or girl rages at and disobeys the mother. She is exhausted, worried, resentful, and lonely and takes out her anguish on the youngster. Each gets too much fury and too little appreciation from the other.
