Cryosurgery has been employed for the treatment of leiomyosarcoma. The gold standard of treatment is excision with wide margins and sufficient depth. Cryosurgery is sometimes considered as treatment for small, recurrent leiomyosarcomas and those in areas that are difficult to resect. Cryosurgery may also be employed as an adjunctive therapy to surgical resection due to the high rate of recurrence and metastasis when the leiomyosarcoma is incompletely excised.
