Abstract

This chapter summarizes the findings, identifies the issues which have not been addressed in the book, and list some directions for future research. The main conclusion is that WSNs provide a excellent information infrastructure for the remote monitoring, tracking and control of indoor and outdoor environments, industrial plants, and other applications. However many design and implementation issues still need to be fully addressed, such as sensor node hardware design, software design, interference mitigation, security, data fusion etc. It is hard to find generic solutions for some of these particular issues. Therefore, application-specific solutions have to be provided. This book provides systematic solutions to WSN design and implementation based on our first hand research work and application experience.
