Part of the book series: Surgery: Complications, Risks and Consequences ((SCRC))

Abstract

Pediatric thoracic surgery covers a spectrum of surgery involving the bronchi, lung, chest wall, esophagogastric region, and patent ductus, through to highly complex surgery for correction of congenital malformations, including different permutations of tracheoesophageal fistulae. This chapter aims to provide information concerning the complications, risks, and consequences of pediatric thoracic surgery. For further information relating to other surgical procedures, refer to the relevant chapter and volume.
