Abstract
A general segmentation method for automatic isolating the carpal-bone in an X-ray DICOM medical image was proposed in this paper. As the recognition and separation of individual carpal-bone from the image is a difficult task, to achieve this, the main algorithms in our solution include edge detection, region of interest area extracting, segment the bones and count the carpal-bone. The results show that the general segmentation methods can provide a robust and accurate method for automatic segmentation the carpal bone in X-ray hand images.
