Abstract
This chapter looks at the common problems of the arthritic knee, ligamentous dysfunction or meniscal tears. Publications concerning potential treatments for cartilage defects and deformity are reviewed and evidence presented concerning the range of knee arthroplasties: total, unicompartmental and patella-femoral resurfacing. Consideration is also given to the failed arthroplasty and the treatment options and subsequent outcomes from revision surgery. Reconstruction for ligamentous injuries is dealt with, as is knee dislocation. Up-to-date references on the perennial problem of anterior knee pain are included here.
