Abstract
The second section of this book is concerned with uniform spaces. These are structured sets of a different kind from those we have studied so far. As we shall see in due course, a uniform structure on a given set determines a topological structure on the same set. However, different uniform structures may determine the same topological structure. Moreover, there exist topological structures which cannot be obtained from a uniform structure.
