Abstract
This paper3 presents a summary of activities on student recruitment in the Electronics and Computing Sectors in 1987 and 1988 in the School of Information Systems at the University of East Anglia. Some of the background is given first, followed by an outline of initiatives to stimulate interest from women (both school leavers and, at a more local level, mature entrants). Thirdly, a brief look is taken at initiatives with teachers. Some of the initiatives to make the university more accessible are described — BTEC tie-ups and access courses. There is also a description of some new courses at UEA — Electronics Design and Technology and Open Entry Science.
