Abstract
A well-constructed scene consists of more than just objects and a camera. The positioning and control of lighting is an essential aspect, whether you’re attempting to create a realistic, theatrical or cinematic atmosphere. In this chapter we will look at the various types of light that are available in RenderMan renderers, and see how you can use these in a RIB file. These will allow you to illuminate your scene in a more interesting fashion than the default lighting we have so far been using.
