Summary

Transmeatal labyrinthectomy can be a highly effective means of ablating vestibular function. One must be diligent in one’s search for neuroepithelium. If vestibular neuroepithelium is left behind, there is a high probability of failure. One must also take care not to injure the facial nerve during blind probing of the vestibule.
