Mobility: services and networks

  • Michel Feneyrol

Travel means loss of personal contact during the journey, at stopovers, and even during the period of readjustment and re-establishment of links on reaching final destination. From the beginning of time, communicating while on the move has been a matter of great difficulty and, at times, of crucial importance for mankind. Troop movements and commercial and financial dealings have generated the most pressing need. It is not therefore surprising that these areas were the first to develop techniques for communicating with people and vehicles on the move.
