Abstract

The paper describes the objectives and some achievement of the Research Project DEPIRE sponsored under the CEC ENVIRONMENT Program, that is now in progress and will be completed by early 1997. The project is performed by Snamprogetti (Coordinator), Consorzio Pisa Ricerche, TNO and AEA Technology and is aimed at developing a procedure for the definition of the optimum leak detection system requirements based on the desired risk reduction and on the development of prototypes of leak detection systems based on innovative process based technology and on techniques not requiring process measurement.
