Abstract
In a recent review of all trauma patients with injuries that violated the pleural cavity, blunt trauma was responsible in 33% of cases [4]. Although motor vehicle accidents account for the majority of all blunt trauma, other etiologies include a fall from a great height, cave-in accidents, airplane crashes, blows to the chest from personal assault or animal kicks, and blasts or explosions.
