Abstract

Classes are an essential feature of object-oriented programming techniques and can help to control the complexity of application programs. A class is a user-defined type (something called an abstract data type1) which has its own collection of data, functions and operators. Various levels of data hiding are provided and these help to create an interface to the class which hides its implementation.
