Abstract

John Hughlings Jackson was a product of the Victorian era, even though the sum and substance of his thinking was never realised in all its splendour during his lifetime. Perhaps he was bringing answers to questions that had not yet been asked. Accordingly, it would be better to consider the ideas that were circulating around him before embarking upon a consideration of the man himself.
