Abstract

There is a clear need for guidance on cost-effective assessment and certification of safety-related and safety-critical systems within the process industries. This paper introduces FRESCO, a collaborative project sponsored by the DTI’s Safety Critical Systems Programme, which is investigating suitable assessment frameworks. The project intends to use the chemical industry to verify its recommendations. Interim results are presented and initial feedback from the project’s industry interest group, drawn from the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, are reported.
