Abstract
It is hypothesize that the mechanism responsible for the periodic shortening-elongation behaviour of Hydra has an oscillatory nature, which is reflected by the periodical variation of the Hydra sensitivity to photic stimuli. We tested such hypothesis by searching the possibility of mantaining the system at a fixed phase by repetitive light pulse stimulation of suitable frequency. The role of the intinsic noise of the system on the degree of congruence of the experimental results with the expected ones is then discussed.
