Methods and Techniques of Improving the Safety Classification of Programmable Logic Controller Safety Systems

  • C. J. Goring

This paper provides guidelines on the approaches that can be taken to improve the safety classification of Programmable Logic Controller Safety Systems.

For reference the VDE 801 Classification, the draft IEC 65A Working Group papers and the ISA SP84 draft documents are taken as providing the safety metrics to be achieved.
