Implementation Concerns in Seam Tracking Systems
The detailed analysis of the seam tracking process was discussed in Chapter 5. Equally important are the implementation concerns of this theory. To learn and weld the seam in the same pass, the operational requirements of this system include (i) interpreting the seam information from the weld joint image in realtime, (ii) adaptively generating models of both the seam geometry and the seam environment, and (iii) computing the control input to guide the welding torch and the sensor along the seam.
