Neural Network Applications

Part of the book series: Perspectives in Neural Computing ((PERSPECT.NEURAL))

Abstract

Recent years have seen increasingly many attempts to use Neural Network methods to solve computationally difficult problems in medical diagnosis. This paper presents a preliminary review of applications, noting some problems encountered, along with areas in which success has been achieved. It is observed especially that neural network theory is not always applied with sufficient care. Some thoughts are advanced on the future applicability of neural networks in medical science, noting that priorities differ from those of industry.
