Abstract

The general problem of the drying of solids can be complex as three types of transport exist for liquid and vapour (Fig. 1.1):

  1. 1.

    The transport of liquid within a solid.

  2. 2.

    The evaporation of liquid from the surface of the solid.

  3. 3.

    The transport of vapour through the grains of the solid.
