Epidemiology of Acute Renal Failure in France Today

  • Chapter
Acute Renal Failure in the Intensive Therapy Unit

Part of the book series: Current Concepts in Critical Care ((CRITICAL CARE))

Abstract

As in other European countries, acute renal failure (ARF) remains a challenge for any French physician involved in the treatment of patients in the Intensive Care Unit (Cameron 1986). Although the mortality has changed little over the past twenty years, there have been some modifications in aetiology, form and outcome of ARF. This review will centre upon my personal experience and that described in the more recent French literature.
