A Works Director’s View

Over the past 16 years I have been involved at senior executive level in the total manufacturing operation at a medium-sized electrical engineering company based in the suburban district of Manchester. The company’s overall performance over this period has been well above that achieved on a national scale in the manufacturing industry. In looking back over this successful period the one element within the company that has remained stable, predictable, committed and flexible is the people element. The management team without exception has attached both a human- and taskcentred approach to all decision-making with social and economic effectiveness.
