Abstract
Intersex is a complicated subject. When one hears a lecture by an expert in this field such as Sir David Innes Williams, the whole topic appears entirely clear for the duration of the lecture. As soon as one is faced with a practical problem, however, all the information seems confused and the immediate diagnosis is not apparent. Therefore, we have spent some time in the last few months putting together a small booklet on intersex and this provides the basis for this chapter. This is a practical guide so that when the urologist is faced with an intersex problem at the bedside he will be able to contribute to any discussion with the paediatric endocrinologist and come to a conclusion as to what is best for the child.
