Reoperations for Coronary Artery Disease

  • Chapter
Reoperations in Cardiac Surgery

Abstract

As the number of patients who have undergone primary myocardial revascularisation continues to burgeon, the number of potential candidates for a secondary myocardial revascularisation has increased exponentially. In the last decade, the number of secondary myocardial revascularisations at the Cleveland Clinic has increased 435%. In 1986, 412 myocardial re-revascularisation procedures were performed, which represents 18% of the total revascularisation procedures (Fig. 23.1).
