Abstract
Although surgical solutions for the treatment of lower extremity chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) and venous ulceration continue to be explored and implemented, non-operative management remains the primary approach to treatment world-wide. It has long been known that strict bed rest and leg elevation are effective modes of treatment. However, the impracticality of this has led to ambulatory therapy with the goals of controlling symptoms, promoting the healing of ulcers, and preventing ulcer recurrence.
