Abstract

The vascular system is uniform in man only in terms of its major components; there is considerable variability peripherally, variability which is individual-specific. It is worth remembering that it was suggested that prints of the pattern of veins on the dorsum of the hand might be used in identification before fingerprinting was adopted.
