The Vasculitis Syndromes in Aorta and Large Arteries

  • Chapter
Diseases of the Arterial Wall

Abstract

Takayasu’s disease is a chronic inflammatory arteriopathy which principally involves the aorta and its main branches. The terms “pulseless disease” [223], “non-specific aortoarteritis” [227], “aortic arch syndrome” [122] and “occlusive thromboaortopathy” [123] are acceptable synonyms for Takayasu’s disease.
