Abstract

Transrectal aspiration biopsy of the prostate, introduced by Franzèn et al. [1] at Radiumhemmet in the late 1950s has been accepted as a fast, safe and accurate procedure. At Karolinska Hospital this procedure has become routine in the last 25 years in the diagnosis of prostatic carcinoma [2].
